Autism is never boring, thats for sure! I can't seem to get enough
time to sit down and watch a thirty minute t.v. show. Since I have
had my autistic child my normal is anything but.
I want to pull my hair out at least once a day and run away from
home at least once a week. I know that I can't be the only person
that feels this way! The Autistic Behaviors that drive me crazy
always make for an interesting conversation to say the least.
When my child was 13 months old he started throwing fits. Prior to
this age he was unusually affectionate for an autistic child .
He never minded being held, kissed or touched like some
children with Autism. His issues were more delayed speech,
lack of eye contact and he was to quiet.
One day that all changed!
I was getting him ready to go to a doctors appointment,
I sat him in the floor in the living room. I had been carrying
all the things in my hand to pack his travel bag.
I walked across the room and started getting things together
and he began to cry. Not a bad cry, more like he was just getting
mad, but I might have one more second to cram just one more
item in this bag. when I turned around I saw that he was laying
on his tummy sprawled out with his legs on the rug and his head
on the hardwood floor.
Before I even realized something was wrong he
lifted his head back and came straight down and banged his
head on the floor.
I dropped everything in my hands and ran to him. He had a knot
already forming on his head and it was red. He cried, but only
for a minute. I was horrified but he just reached over and grabbed
a bag of potato chips I had just dropped. I was packing them in
the bag to take with us.
He was hungry and had wanted the chips. When I walked across
the room and was putting them in the bag he didn't know what
else to do to tell me he wanted them.
