Here are a few of my favorite toys for autistic children, they have
taken a beating from Autism and kept on going!
Maybe your a grandparent or friend who needs help choosing
the perfect Autism gifts or toys for autistic children that are safe.
Autistic children are very rough on their toys, when looking
at toys for Autism the first test should be safety & durablity!
A child with Autism can be difficult to shop for to say the least!
Birthdays, holidays and missed sales because you might not know
what toys for autistic children are safe. I have been there, reading
every label, checking all possible signs of saftey concerns and
reading other parents reviews.
Autism Gifts and toys for autistic children should not be breakable,
have small parts such as choking hazards or sharp edges.
The tasks of the toys should be simple and easy to understand
and teach.
Even if the child is six or seven you need to think about the safety
of that toy the way you would if you were giving it to a toddler.
Buying toys for autistic children is like buying a toddler a box
of crayons hoping to get an art piece at the end but instead they
got a mouth full. They will use that toy for things you could never
see coming!
You could never go wrong with a gift card. Parents have the
most experience picking out the safest autism toys for their child.
I promise you will not hurt their feelings by saying " I just don't
know what toys for autistic kids are safe." Parents with children on
the spectrum know the toy isle inside and out. Getting some ideas
from them on what new toys they have been looking at a couple
of months before the holidays or birthdays is a good idea.
Don't forget the birthday cards. Since Autistic children don't pay
much attention to things like that you might want to get a flashy
card that draws them in. Pop up birthday cards, music cards or an
over sized card are great ideas. If you are getting a gift card for a
retail store then go all out on the birthday card and use it as the
perfect wrapping.
In my opinion as a parent raising Autism a good toy bin organizer
is worth the money. Autistic children prefer to be a bit tidy, most of
them don't like their food to touch or their toys to mix! The cloth
bins were always my favorite because my son could not stand on
them or stack them for stafety reasons. Even if you are still in the
toddler years the oraganizeration bins will help you teach your little
one how to keep their room tidy.
